You will provide clinical nursing expertise for palliative care patients, selecting and implementing different therapeutic interventions and evaluating patient progress. You will also ensure effective hospital avoidance strategies through the provision of education, equipment and referral. Primarily providing nursing care, you will also provide clinical leadership to palliative care nurses, acting as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person. You will accept accountability for your nursing practice, the outcomes of palliative care nursing practices, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy. Modbury Hospital is a 164-bed acute care teaching hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to the North-Eastern suburbs community. A teaching hospital of the University of Adelaide, Modbury Hospital has been servicing the community for over 30 years with dedication and pride. The Hospital is now tailoring its services to meet the needs of the ageing population in the area through rehabilitation, aged care and palliative care.

 

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in palliative care nursing and undertaking a nursing leadership role, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
