The Role:
We are seeking enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultants to join a dynamic team of clinicians, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the department and take part in hospital wide initiatives to improve Emergency Care and the patient experience across the whole of the acute pathway. This is the main referral hospital in the Region, which has a population of approximately 250,000.
The department see’s on average 47,000 attendances each year with an admission rate of 25%, it deals with the full spectrum of Emergency Care with trauma and resuscitation a core component of the work along with the management of routine Emergency/Urgent patient presentations. There is a strong and innovative clinical practice with ongoing development of point of care clinical ultrasound, procedural sedation, non-invasive and invasive ventilation, toxicological and toxinological practices.

The Hospital:
The Hospital provides a huge array of services including Red Cross blood transfusion service, 24 hour emergency, anaesthetics, radiology, ultrasound, specialist outpatient department review, central sterilising services and supply, rehabilitation, renal, coronary care, intensive care, palliative care, chemotherapy, cay surgery unit, operating rooms, general surgery, general orthopaedics, visiting urology, ear nose and throat, general medicine, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics including neonatal (special care nursery), and general respiratory medicine.

Visiting services include rheumatology, oncology, haematology, paediatric cardiology, neurosurgical and facial maxillary.

Huge improvements on the Hospital have been made since 2007, stage one of these improvements included a new emergency department, rehabilitation unit, maternity unit, paediatrics unit and dialysis unit as well as a learning and development centre.

Situated close to stunning beaches, perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving, boating and surrounded by the Ranges/Mountain thus creating an impressive backdrop for the vibrant City and coast. The city boasts a number of high performing Schools, over 80 education facilities including public and private schools (preparatory year followed by year 1 to year 12), special education, distance education, TAFE and University.

Skills/Qualifications:
• Significant clinical experience, skills and experience in the provision of emergency medical care.
• Sound understanding of contemporary Emergency Department models of care.
• Demonstrated ability to lead service improvement through forms of quality improvement activities.
• Demonstrated interest, skills and participation in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Developed leadership skills and the ability to liaise and negotiate with professional staff, the public and others.
• Well-developed skills in written and verbal communication, and the ability to represent the organisation and departmental goals and policies.
• Participation in relevant professional development, research and continuous learning to ensure the progression of individual clinical standards.

To be eligible to apply you must have Specialist Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and be a fellow of the ACEM.

Total remuneration value up to $474,448 p.a., comprising salary between $199,554 - $211,576 p.a. (L25 - L27), or $434,004 p.a., comprising salary between $166,872 - $193,833 p.a. (L18 - L24)
