We are seeking a permanent part time/full time pharmacy assistant to work a minimum 38 hour a week commencing July. Experience is preferred but not essential. Ongoing product knowledge and training will be provided
Automated Medication Packing Systems reduce manual handling, increase accuracy and allow faster and more precise sorting, dosing and packaging of Medication for patients, enabling Pharmacy staff to update Data, communicate with other health professionals and colleagues.An opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced Science Graduate or Laboratory Assistant to join the Aged Care Pharmacy team Monday to Friday and be trained on Automated Medication Packing Systems. The Pharmacy provides Packaged Medication to aged care residential facilities. It employs a committed and trained team of Pharmacists and support staff.It is equipped with State of the art robotic medication packaging systems, hand held electronic prescribing, charting and medication delivery systems and industry leading auditing and accuracy systems. The machine rapidly and accurately packs an individual patients daily medication into plastic pouches using software and a range of options to personalise the medication pouches enabling Pharmacists and Technicians to provide a personalised approach to medication management.The packaging machines need to be continuously stocked with the various medications required – Tablets, Capsules, and Rolls of Sachets fitted to the machines.We are seeking a Medication Technician to join the team for this function.
Duties
- Stocking and operation of packing robots
- Sorting Prescriptions
- Transferring completed Patients medication sachets to dispatch area
- Co-ordinating with Pharmacists regarding changes to the medication of patients
- Inventory re-stocking and collecting
- Customer assistance
- Phone answering and call transfers
- Communicating with nursing home staff and doctors via phone, fax & email
- Removing medication and replacing with different medication on Doctor’s instruction
Skills required:
- Ability to accurately identify various medications
- Work accurately to strict time deadlines
- Computer efficiency: Word, Excell, Internet
- Strong interest in Health, Science, Medicine
