Detail information about job Senior Consultant - NEI (Clinical). Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Innovation in Education and Youth Mental Health
  • Competitive salary, including generous salary packaging benefits
  • Based in Melbourne

Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised, national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.

An exciting role exists for an energetic, clinically qualified mental health professional to support schools through the implementation of the National Education Initiative (NEI) Program. Working consultatively, you will provide clinical oversight, governance and leadership to the delivery of services. headspace, as the implementation partner, will work with beyondblue to deliver an interactive framework of evidenced-based information, professional advice and support to primary and secondary schools. The NEI Program through continuous professional development of educators will promote optimal social and emotional health and wellness in schools.

The Senior Consultant – NEI (Clinical) will provide a clinical response, tailored to the individual needs of school communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from suicide. Reporting to the State Manager, you will ensure that schools receive timely and clinically sound support and remain updated on new resources and material available in the integrated program. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you will be a point of consultation for schools and colleagues, and will take an active role in the development and implementation of state-based strategies and projects. Through a relationships-based approach, you will be responsible for strengthening partnerships with prospective and participating schools, along with fostering a collaborative and respectful team culture.

To be successful in this role, you will have completed your tertiary qualifications in an approved allied health discipline and be eligible for membership with the appropriate professional body. This role calls for a responsive individual who is experienced in the provision of youth mental health care, including risk assessment, and delivering clinical or advisory services to schools. Your highly developed communication skills will allow you to effectively deliver education and training packages and you will demonstrate the ability to engage, liaise and interact with a broad range of stakeholders across the national health and education sectors. Your empathetic style will enable you to effectively engage with families and other networks in the care of young people. This role primarily supports teachers, leaders and schools rather than providing direct clinical services to young people.

This role requires intra state and interstate travel.

In return we offer a flexible and dynamic environment where you have the opportunity to truly make a difference to young Australians. Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience, and includes generous salary packaging opportunities. This role is offered until 30 June 2019 in line with our funding term.
