About the company

This provider is a nationwide healthcare NFP organisation with hospitals, residential aged care homes and community care services. This role is a newly established role due to a tender agreement that has started in July 2018. This role will fall under out of hospital care within the community and focusing on Palliative Care services. The organisation’s services include public and private hospital care, acute and sub-acute care, community care, retirement and aged care services. The organisation believes in providing the best level of quality and compassionate care for their clients.


About the opportunity

This newly established role has arisen within this organisation to join them as a confident and experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant specialising in Palliative Care services. This is a full-time role with the need of a Palliative Care expert. You will work closely with the Palliative Care teams across Adelaide working together to ensure the best level of care services for palliative care clients in the home. Your main responsibilities will include the successful set up of service, ensuring the customer experience excellence and ensuring a confident trust in service.

You will report directly to the Area Manager and lead and develop your own team. This is a very exciting opportunity for a Nurse Consultant within the Palliative Care Teams in Adelaide looking to develop and utilise their skill set and experience to further enhance their career and contribute to the development of a new service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading and setting up the Palliative Care Service within Adelaide
  • Provide one on one assessments for end of life care patients
  • Responsible for mentoring and educating staff as a Palliative Care expert
  • Work closely with clients and families and the Palliative Care Teams and liaising with the wider community to identify clinical goals
  • Continue improvement of quality care through assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Clinical, Allied Health, Social Science or a related field
  • Specialised post graduate qualification in Palliative Care, be an expert within this area
  • AHPRA Registered Nurse with extensive experience working in palliative care services
  • Strong understanding of clinical guidelines and ability to grow and develop and set up palliative care services within the Adelaide area
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Focus on customer experience excellence
  • Ability to utilise networks within the community and engage external and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to play a ‘hands on’ role within the organisation
  • Current unrestricted Drivers Licence and willing to travel
