About the opportunity:

We're seeking a professional and motivated Clinical Manager to manage the clinical operation and direction of our residential aged care facility. The Clinical Manager participates as a member of the nursing leadership team providing guidance, direction, mentoring and role modelling to care staff.

Encore Care Group manages and operates Caravonica Waters, a 144-bed residential aged care facility in Cairns. The location is convenient to the Northern Beaches and the Cairns city centre.

Due to rapid company growth, which includes the launch of two new aged care facilities in the next year, we're seeking a professional and motivated Clinical Manager to join our team. 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist the Residential Manager with the admissions of all new residents to the facility.
  • Lead clinical governance across the facility to ensure contemporary, safe efficient and effective care is provided.
  • Implement a Model of Care which creates an environment promoting continuous lifestyle choices for all residents.
  • Provide leadership, remodelling and supervision to the day-to-day activities of care teams including Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Personal Care Workers, Diversional Therapists and Allied Health staff.
  • Promote a culture of service delivery that aims to improve the lifestyle experiences of residents.
  • Manage the master roster ensuring the appropriate model of care is provided at all times.
  • Manage the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) ensuring customer assessments are accurate, timely and attract appropriate funding.
  • Manage clinical stocks across the facility ensuring supplies are appropriately budgeted for and available.
  • Ensure all incidents are recorded and participate in any investigations as required.
  • Participate in and contribute to the strategy formulation, business and care planning processes as it pertains to the area of responsibility.
  • Resolve issues which may have a detrimental effect on achieving agreed targets/plans and resident outcomes.
  • Promote resident’s rights and responsibilities and liaise with Guardianship Administration Tribunals and the Public Trustee ensuring prompt resolution of any enquiries, grievances, or complaints.
  • Ensure that Encore Care policies, procedures, systems and business plans are clearly understood and implemented within the area of responsibility.
  • Actively pursue continuing self-education and support and encourage the education of staff.
  • Work occasional floor shifts including shift work (when required).

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or other qualifications and/or training deemed equivalent by APHRA leading to registration as a General Registered Nurse (essential).
  • Current Nursing registration with APHRA as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 4 years’ experience (essential).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and at least 3 years’ line management experience within a similar aged care environment (preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical governance (essential).
  • Ability to use computer software in the delivery of care services (essential).
  • At least 3 years’ experience within an Aged or Community care environment (desirable).

Skills and attributes to excel in this role:

  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of contemporary nursing care including medication management, clinical assessment and relevant documentation (essential).
  • Demonstrated skills in wound management, medication administration, continence, chronic disease and palliative care (highly desirable).
  • Strong leadership, communication and people management skills and ability to influence performance.
  • Demonstrated skills in financial reporting within a service delivery framework.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management, communication, conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills necessary to manage varying and/or conflicting stakeholder demands.
  • Understanding of all relevant legislative, regulatory requirements, professional standards and guidelines relevant to the Aged Care environment with a particular emphasis on ACFI, Quality Systems, Accreditation and Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a highly regulated and complex environment.
