About the role

Mater Research is a world class facility that is committed to academic medicine and aims to discover, develop, translate, and commercialise medical research that integrates with relevant areas of excellence within clinical practice. To facilitate this vision, we require a talented Research Nurse in a part-time capacity (0.6 FTE) to assist in the development and undertaking of studies relating to projects in areas of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.  The Research Nurse is expected to conduct clinical studies whilst ensuring that the applicable local, national and international regulations and standards are being met and is also responsible for ensuring that clinical processes, systems and educational tools are being utilised appropriately in the conduct of clinical research. 

Salary range: $79,100 - $84,044 per annum plus superannuation (Pro Rata 0.6 FTE) 

What you’ll be doing

The Research Nurse role encompasses the following duties: 

  • Implementation and day to day management of specified studies in close collaboration with clinical staff and study investigators ensuring efficient processes are instigated and followed
  • Development of mechanisms which support adequate recruitment rate for the specified clinical studies
  • Identification of barriers to adequate study recruitment in close collaboration with study investigator and develop improved strategies
  • Assist in the development of data collection systems and organise and manage data collection in accordance with regulatory standards and project timelines
  • Develop a strong working relationship with Principal Investigators and Co Investigators to ensure effective and timely implementation of clinical research

About you

The skills and attributes which will facilitate your success in this role are: 

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration
  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in Gastroenterology & Hepatology fields
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills necessary for negotiating and liaising effectively with a diverse range of staff, parents/carers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to conduct clinical research to ensure consistency and adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Knowledge of data management systems
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical conduct in research involving humans
