Position: Staff Specialist/VMO General Surgeon
Salary: as per NSW award plus package
Contract: permanent 1.0 FTE
The Hospital/Position
The General Surgery team at this base hospital is looking for an experienced General Surgeon to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive surgery experience in regional Australia. The team currently has three other consultant surgeons in it. As part of this team, you would be providing day-to-day care to the patients of the local city and the wider area. You would also be involved in teaching of all levels, along with quality assurance. The hospital provides care for a local population of around 40,000 people and a surrounding area of 80,000. There is also has a private hospital which you would be able to work at should you wish to.
The Area
Just 3 hours from Sydney, this hospital is known for being Australia's oldest settlement and is also considered the fastest growing inland city of NSW. Home to the famous Bathurst racetrack, it has several motor races each year which gain the interest of tourists from all over the world. The region also known for its agriculture (largely grapes, stone fruit and beef) and education sectors. This location is only a 3-hour drive from Sydney and there are also direct train services daily.

FRACS in General Surgery
Experience working in regional Australia
