About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for the full-time (37.5 hours per week) position of Veterans and Veterans’ Families Counselling Service (VVFCS) Relationships Counsellor located at our Greater Townsville Region venue at Thuringowa. This role is being offered on a temporary contract basis until 31 December 2018.  

Reimbursement of relocation expenses is available, to be negotiated with the successful candidate/s.

The purpose of these roles is to provide a high standard of family and relationship counselling interventions to Veterans and Veterans’ family members through Relationships Australia Queensland’s (RAQ) various venues within local communities.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Applying knowledge of issues specific to couples who may be separating or remarrying.
  • Utilising appropriate interventions and link to a treatment plan that is congruent with relationship history, the issues the couple present with, and the impact of relationship issues on any children in the family.
  • Conducting client assessment and intake of client needs to make client appointments, provide relevant information and make appropriate referrals, and link to a treatment plan.
  • Applying knowledge of the impact of military culture on individuals, the couple and the family.

     

About You  

To be successful in this position, you will possess relevant undergraduate qualifications in Psychology or Social Work, coupled with experience in delivering counselling services to clients in a variety of settings.  You will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of Family Systems theories, developmental psychological theories and family violence, as well as current legislation and regulations relating to relationships counselling.  Full registration with APHRA as a psychologist, or accreditation (or eligibility for accreditation) as a Mental Health Social Worker is highly desired. Provisional Psychologists will also be considered.

The salary for this position will be negotiated in line with the successful candidates’ experience and qualifications.  Superannuation and generous salary packaging options are available which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay. Other attractive benefits are available including additional annual leave over the Christmas period, annual leave loading and study leave. Reimbursement of relocation expenses is also available, to be negotiated with the successful candidate/s.
