Ashfield Based
Part-time Permanent Position (20 hours/ week)
Position Overview
The major responsibility of the position is to research and develop high level policy and submissions on sexual and reproductive health, to support organisational objectives.
The Senior Policy Officer reports to the Director Research Centre.
Selection Criteria
Essential (Including Qualifications)
- Degree qualifications in a health, public policy or related discipline
- Proven success in managing projects with an understanding of project methodology
- Experience in research and presenting information around specific issues
- Demonstrated high level capability and experience in public health submissions, policy development, report writing, implementation and review
- Demonstrated ability to collate reproductive and sexual health information from disparate published and unpublished sources
- Superior negotiation, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Highly organised, efficient and reliable; proven ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to work concurrently on a number of different projects and to coordinate projects within timeframes and budget constraints
- High level computer literacy, specifically MS Office applications

Key Responsibilities
- In consultation with the CEO:
- prepare high quality reports, submissions, briefing papers and correspondence
- explore and develop policy on sexual and reproductive health
- draft responses/submissions to government and other entities
- enhance FPNSW key external messages
- Monitor developments in national and international reproductive and sexual health issues and recommend action
- Collate reproductive and sexual health information from disparate published and unpublished sources and utilise this information for public health submissions
- In consultation with relevant Executive, develop resources for training and development initiatives in reproductive and sexual health
- Explore available grants and prepare funding submissions
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed by the Director, Research Centre

- Maintain appropriate resource allocation, and effective management and administrative practices, in accordance with organisational policies, processes and delegations of FPNSW.
