The Northern Midlands Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Officer to join their team based at Longford in Tasmania.
The WHS Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a quality WHS Management System across the organisation. In addition, to being responsible for a broad range of administrative functions, relating to WHS, including but not limited to insurance policies, risk management, policy development, workers compensation and rehabilitation.
The successful candidate will drive a culture of safety and build strong internal relationships to reinforce and promote WHS at every opportunity.
For your application to be considered, you must have formal vocational or tertiary qualifications in WHS (Certificate IV or Diploma as a minimum) and substantial previous experience in a similar position, including extensive experience in safety management systems. In addition to this, you will have experience in workers compensation and insurance claims management, you will be an accredited Return to Work Coordinator (or the ability to obtain) and have qualifications and/or relevant experience in risk management.
You will also have demonstrated knowledge and an understanding of WHS legislation, regulations, procedures and codes of practice and the ability to interpret the same. As well as a sound understanding of safe work practices and a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of risk management principles, practices, procedures and how to implement the same.
This position will be offered on a full-time basis, working a nineteen-day month and terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant, in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement 2016-2019.
