As an independent and family-owned business with more than 140 years of experience in shipbuilding, Lürssen is relied upon to build, deliver and maintain naval vessels. Lürssen’s only obligations are to their customers and to the top performance of their products. Lürssen build every type of high-quality surface naval vessels for the German Navy and now for the Australian Navy with the construction of the Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs).
We are working in conjunction with Lürssen for the recruitment of personnel for the OPV project that is currently underway. As a result, we currently have a position available for a Subcontract Delivery Manager working on Defence contracts which will be based in Henderson (Western Australia).
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Coordinates internal stakeholders to establish necessary processes to underpin successful achievement of the Project and Technical/Product requirements.
- Ensures that agreed delivery schedules with the Subcontractor (supported by sound resource management plans) are met, using key performance measurements to assure conforming deliveries and to identify improvements and ensuring that he/she provides timely, clear and correct guidance and advice to subcontractors where required.
- Establishes and chairs regular progress and senior review meetings with the subcontractors to monitor their progress, risks and issues. Proactively manage the subcontractor(s) and ensure that a no surprise culture is embedded from the start so that mitigating actions can be taken quickly to avoid potential delay to delivery.
- Prepares regular progress reports in a timely manner for the senior leadership team ensuring that all information is accurate and that all risks have mitigating actions identified. Progress reports are compiled and aligned with the Business reporting cycle.
- Needs a strong understanding of contract management requiring to be first point of contact for all contractual differences and resolves any minor matters that do not need escalation through to sourcing and/or contract management.
- Actively manages the claims.
- Elaborates and updates the corresponding EVM reporting on a monthly basis.
Profile:
- Engineering Degree or Master in Business Administration degree.
- Practical experience on project management and EVM.
- Strong and long-lasting (5 years+) experience in Sub-project and subcontract management.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Decision making and problem solving.
