This municipal client has engaged Aspect Personnel to find them 2 Statutory Planners on a contract basis. Due to a steady increase in planning applications, its Statutory Planning department is requiring suitably qualifying and experienced planners to come in and hit the ground running. 

Problem solving and negotiation will play a key part in your day to day activities and you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your aptitude for creative problem solving and provide specialist recommendations, both internally and externally. Key Stakeholders will include; applicants, council colleagues, government agencies and members of the local community.

As the ideal candidate, you will be an excellent communicator (both written and verbally) and you will also have the confidence to resolve conflict in a variety of situations and mediate where necessary.

 Your primary responsibilities will include; processing town planning applications, preparing and presenting submissions on behalf of Council to VCAT, formulating recommendations on the Planning Scheme Amendment & Planning applications and undertaking high quality analysis and preparation on a complex range of planning matters.

 Additionally, you will act as an important advocate for the Planning team, not only through your representation at VCAT and Panel Meetings but also whilst you serve as a mentor to Junior staff and an advisor to Management.  
The ideal candidate will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Planning or other relevant area
• A sound knowledge of relevant acts and more specifically the Victorian legislation.
• Experience with representing council at VCAT and Panel Hearings
• The ability to provide a high level of customer service and offer specialist recommendations and solutions
• Victorian Drivers Licence

In return for your services, you will be offered a healthy hourly rate, 35-40 hours per week and the opportunity to collaborate with a supportive and experienced group of planners.
