Your role
Imagine you have the best view in town. You are speaking to the pilot flying a Globemaster on its final approach, while a Super Hornet is awaiting your approval to take off. Take control of the skies and direct military aircraft in this exciting role.
If you’re a fast-thinking multi-tasker, you could make an excellent Air Traffic Controller (Joint Battlefield Airspace Controller).
The role is even more challenging in the Air Force, as you may find yourself operating in battlefield situations. This adds the extra dimensions of airborne weapons and enemy activity to the aircraft movements you are managing.
Naturally this is a high-adrenalin job but as a confident and independently-minded team player you’ll relish every moment. And the full-scale tactical environments you’ll be operating in could be anywhere from an Australian Air Force Base to a Navy ship to an overseas exercise deployment with Coalition Forces.
As an Air Force Officer you’ll learn to be an inspirational leader and mentor. As your career develops you will also have the opportunity to broaden your skills into areas that could include senior instruction and training roles.
