ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of the Senior Authorised Officer (investigations) role within the Apprenticeship Field Services is to lead the low to medium complexity investigations function. This includes a team of 5 Authorised Officers (AO) conducting a state wide investigation program.
Note that a moderate amount of travel will be required to conduct investigations and this may include some overnight stays.
The successful candidate will enjoy establishing a new and challenging program with an enthusiastic team.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Lead the low to medium complexity investigation functions including:
- Plan and allocate cases to Authorised Officers (Investigations) to ensure the efficient operation of the service and achieve KPIs
- Conduct escalated risk assessments or more complex investigations as directed by the Program Manager, in line with agreed procedures
- Work with the Program Manager and VRQA to plan, monitor and report on campaigns including the development of campaign plans, associated performance, procedures and campaign reports. (Campaigns are investigations targeted at particular areas of compliance across qualification, industry and demographic issues)
- Monitor and mentor Authorised Officers (AO’s) allocated to cases. Perform quality assurance on these cases as described in the Quality Plan including reviewing of all reports to the VRQA or clients
- Provide training, coaching and professional development to Authorised Officers
- Associated Administrative and case management functions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience or clearly demonstrated ability to research and investigate regulatory matters including the ability to plan and execute an investigation
- Demonstrated knowledge of vocational training issues and in particular the regulations , Acts and Contract requirements that relate to the Apprenticeship and Traineeship System in Victoria
- Demonstrated capability to write clear, objective and concise reports
- Supervisory experience relevant to achieving KPIs including planning , case allocation, case and KPI monitoring and providing feedback and coaching to staff
- Communication and interpersonal skills including effective interviewing skills, consultation and problem solving skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Certificate IV in Government Investigations or willing to achieve the qualification within 12 months of commencement. A relevant higher qualification such as a Diploma in Government Investigations or similar would be well regarded.
