An exciting opportunity exists for an APS6 Assessor within a large Federal Government department to join a busy and dynamic branch. The successful candidate will assess applications for approved aged care provider status against a legislated criteria. Working under limited direction, the assessor will examine evidence about the applicant’s previous record, conduct, financial capacity, honesty and overall suitability.

Duties include:

• Assess the suitability of applicants seeking approval, taking into consideration a number of factors and against a legislated criteria
• Engage with applicants regarding their applications, including issuing and responding to requests for information
• Prepare recommendations to the delegate regarding applications, including drafting correspondence outlining the delegates decision
• Assist in monitoring the section’s inbox
• Other duties as required

About you:

• The ability to interpret and apply legislation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in their work
• General administrative skills
• Experience using Microsoft Excel
• Common sense and sound judgement
• A 'can do' attitude with a willingness to perform a variety of tasks
• The ability to work well in a team
