About the role

IMR is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Electronics Engineer to assist in development and testing of our proprietary low latency video compression algorithm.  The successful candidate will have experience in software development and testing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and developing signal processing algorithms and implementing these through appropriate choice of hardware and software
  • Design, develop and implement software applications and embedded code
  • Verifying and validating compression algorithms using MATLAB and other tools
  • Create verification test benches for the products
  • Assist in design and test of development boards
  • Fabricate and modify electronic assemblies and cabling as required, using industry standard practices, according to schematic drawings or other documentation generated by engineers to make assemblies available when needed.
  • Diagnose and carry out necessary repairs to PCB boards to component level
  • Assemble and test prototypes.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in developing low latency video compression algorithms
  • Extensive experience using MATLAB
  • Advanced knowledge of Python and C#
  • Relevant university level qualification in Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience within an Electronic Work Shop environment
  • Previous experience performing Quality Assurance environment
  • Experience with electronic product manufacturing systems

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of modern electronics technology including analogue and digital discrete and integrated circuits, computer electronics, and computer communications.
  • Knowledge of video and RF systems
  • Knowledge of video compression standards
  • Knowledge of digital communication protocols: RS-232/422/485, USB and Ethernet.
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools used in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of the operation and uses of electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, pulse and function generators, power supplies, etc.
  • Ability to read complex electronic schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to use mechanical tools such as drill press, electric screwdrivers, dremel etc
  • Ability to analyse and design simple analogue and digital circuits
