VITRONIC is an international provider of machine vision camera systems to a wide range of industries and government agencies. Our products are used for traffic monitoring, logistics and manufacturing. VITRONIC’s head office and development centre are in Germany, supported by subsidiary companies located in key global markets. Our Australian business is entering a period of change, so we are seeking a full-time Systems Engineer (Electronics) for an immediate start in our Notting Hill office.
Reporting to the Australian Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
Work with the Business Development team to meet with potential customers and obtain a detailed understanding of their requirements
Develop solutions to meet the needs of potential and existing customers
Develop electronics components including embedded firmware for control systems and other industrial applications
Support the preparation and execution of product demonstrations
Develop engineering solutions to meet product demonstration requirements
Liaise with Germany to ensure the timely and appropriate delivery of customer solutions / components
Supervise the testing, implementation and commissioning of the final product including preparing detailed documentation
Ongoing customer support including system performance monitoring and reporting
Complete technical components of quotations or proposals to illustrate product functionality and effectiveness, liaising with the global product management team or engineering team where required
Work with the Business Development team to understand Australian customer requirements
Communicate Australian customer requirements to the global product management team to enable the effective prioritisation and development of product strategies
Maintain a detailed and up to date understanding of the existing and planned VITRONIC logistics product range to ensure their successful and appropriate deployment in projects
Regularly liaise with the global product management team to obtain and/or develop detailed product information and specifications, for use in marketing and sales activities, for any products relevant to the Australian market
Provide feedback to the global product management team on device performance and issues and work with them to obtain or develop suitable solutions for Australian customers
Work with the Business Development team to develop business cases for new product offerings and submit to the global product management team
Maintain productive working relationships with the VITRONIC product development team
Build and maintain relationships with key individuals within customer organisations, including regularly visiting customers in person
Provide engineering expertise to technical project teams, including for fault finding and root cause analysis, including liaison with Germany where required
Work with the Business Development team to ensure all customer communications are consistent with required messaging and standards
Provide recommendations to customers regarding upgrades or modifications to ensure optimal system performance
Identify new business opportunities within customer organisations and pass these onto Business Development for follow through
Work with the Business Development team to prepare quotations and proposals for customers
Work with customers to manage any commercial issues that arise within either organisation to ensure maintenance of a strong working relationship and to retain business
Proactively contribute towards the provision of a safe workplace, ensure that reasonable measures are taken to ensure compliance with WH&S policies and procedures for the health and safety of all employees, contractors and visitors in the workplace. This is to be achieved through the assessment and elimination of WH&S risks via hazard reporting and risk assessments.

To be considered for this role, you must have:
German language proficiency for technology related written and verbal communication
5+ years of engineering work experience in German manufacturing industry
German engineering degree in electronics and software engineering
Experience with embedded HW and SW development
Excellent communication skills to tailor reports to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
The right to work in Australia without sponsorship
