The Department of Planning & Environment is the lead NSW Government agency in planning for a growing NSW, aiming to inspire strong communities and protect our environment.  It engages with key State and Local Government, community and industry stakeholders to deliver better outcomes in the areas of planning, energy, resources, arts, cultural institutions, local government, and the environment.
  
This new role has been created to enhance the agency’s ability to work effectively and collaboratively with these stakeholders.  Working closely with Brendan Nelson, Deputy Secretary, you will play a central role in supporting a forward looking and highly coordinated approach to planning.  You will broker great community outcomes through the effective relationships and communication channels you build. 
  
The role is best suited to a professional whose core discipline is civil engineering.  You should be highly consultative by nature, pragmatic and solutions orientated.  You will be someone capable of envisaging optimal outcomes and influencing sophisticated stakeholders to see them achieved efficiently and cost-effectively.  In the ideal, you will have applied these skills in relation to major infrastructure projects, whether directly or through consulting.
