Our client is a world leading manufacturer and supplier of speciality supplements and vitamins, has multiple operating sites across the globe serving several industries and applications. Their highest priority is to manufacture, market and distribute products in a responsible manner that protects the environment and safeguards the health, safety and security of employees, contractors, customers and the community.
Due to the continued growth of the business, a newly created position for a Health and Safety Manager has arisen to provide professional Health & Safety advice and support to all levels within the organisation. You will be working closely with all areas of the business to develop practices and align business units with corporate expectations.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure high level of leadership across all operational and support areas on site.
- Provide support for the line management in the development of safety programmes and the development of a positive safety culture based on the principles of worker engagement and performance excellence.
- Support line management by providing technical health and safety support and with the maintenance of all license to operate issues
- Maintain a WHS compliance management system and maintain a relevant understanding of current legal requirements.
- Assume the lead role for WHS contacts with regulating authorities, insurers, solicitors and consultants.
- Monitor and report all WHS performance metrics and KPIs
- Provide technical health and safety advice and support in order to reduce incidents and to carry out and support incident investigations and follow ups as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent essential.
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience working in process / chemical/ manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Australian Workplace Health and Safety regulations
- Strong personal empowerment, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills at all levels with flexibility in approach and the ability to work with minimal supervision essential.
- Persistent and pragmatic with the strength and courage to overcome obstacles to meet challenging goals.
- Strong organisational, problem solving and PC skills
