The Team & Role

GHD’s Sydney Contamination & Environmental Management team comprises of 35 key professionals based in Sydney metro and regional NSW.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Hydrogeologist with proven project management skills. Your activities will be focussed around delivering high quality technical solutions to our clients and include: planning, co-ordination and implementation of hydrogeological investigations and designs related primarily to the environmental sector and contaminated land.

Preferred background and experience:

• Groundwater gauging, logging and sampling in accordance with relevant Australian and international standards
• Establishment and maintenance of hydrogeological databases and development of conceptual hydrogeological models
• Numerical groundwater modelling experience
• Assessment and analysis of technical data, including the use of computer-based applications for data storage and assessment
• Supervision of technical staff and subcontractors e.g. drillers, laboratories
• Project management and preparation of budgets, work programs, technical submission and reports
• Liaison with clients and assistance with the development of the GHD’s hydrogeological services
• Preparation of proposal and registrations of interest for projects containing hydrogeological components

About you

We are seeking a highly motivated person with:

• Well-developed interpersonal skills: A strong team player who builds rapport with both internal & external stakeholders
• A focus on client service excellence
• The commitment to deliver high quality and technically robust project outcomes
• Ability to work under pressure to tight timeframes and within budgets
• Well-developed problem-solving skills, sound judgement and decisiveness
• A sound understanding of hydrogeology, with a minimum of a Bachelor degree majoring in hydrogeology, or geology with preference for relevant post-graduate training.
• The ability to undertake field investigations, sometimes in remote field locations including: drilling and test pumping supervision; data collection; visual soil and rock classification; and the preparation of bore logs.

• Effective communication skills, particularly in the preparation of technical reports.

• Previous consulting experience, and project exposure related to Environmental assessments and contaminated land investigations; mining operations; groundwater assessment & supply; or geological & groundwater modelling skills would be an advantage.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor degree majoring in hydrogeology, or geology with preference for relevant post-graduate training.
