Our client is a privately owned Australian company operating since the early 1950s. They are one of Australia’s industry leaders in innovative design, manufacture and supply of high quality special purpose machinery for a wide range of industries. They have designed and supplied machines and equipment into Europe, India, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, and the United States.

The company is recognized for its high-level customer focus, high quality products and efficient project delivery, including its ability to plan and complete small and large projects within demanding specifications and rigid delivery dates. As such, their technical expertise and employing high quality professionals are viewed as critical to both building new equipment and to successful commissioning in the field.

Designing, building and commissioning major equipment for a range of industries including mining, rail, and industrial, and then supporting that equipment in the field, you would be an integral member of our engineering / project team, and would be exposed to a wide range of equipment types, clients and sites.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your responsibilities would include:

  • Electrical design for custom build / special purpose heavy equipment;
  • Programming and commissioning electrical drives;
  • PLC programming, automation and robotics;
  • Overseeing the electrical component of the build of new equipment;
  • Commissioning new equipment at remote client sites;
  • Complex fault finding of electrical problems in our equipment in the field.

To be successful in this exciting role, you will:

  • Have a degree in Mechatronics or equivalent;
  • Have solid electrical design experience and capabilities;
  • Be trained and experienced in PLC programming;
  • Have good experience with programming and commissioning drives;
  • Have practical knowledge of commissioning new equipment (in factory and at client site);
  • Have experience with or the interest to learn about automation / robotics;
  • Be flexible enough to occasionally jump on a plane to provide site services in remote areas;
  • Have good communication / people skills, a happy / positive style and a strong work ethic.

Although not mandatory, CNC engineering experience would be an advantage.
