Cardno's South Coast Traffic team is growing and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Engineer, specialising in Traffic Modelling on a permanent basis. This position will suit a candidate who has a background in computer science / programming and a keen interest in the traffic and transport field. With a brand new office in the Wollongong CBD you will enjoy a short walk to the beach, table tennis over lunch or catch up on the World Cup in the kitchen! We are a high performing team that collaborates well which is shown from the senior management level to junior staff members teaming up to deliver exciting projects.

It is not essential to have a background in traffic engineering to take on this role, however it is essential to bring a genuine interest in the transport sector and a great attitude.

Please note, in the first few months with Cardno you will be required to be co-located in our Sydney office for hands on technical training in specialist microsimulation modelling packages, including VISSIM and Aimsun.
  
This role offers the opportunity for you to:

• Offer technical support to senior engineers and project managers in the preparation of traffic studies
• Contribute to the planning and modelling of traffic and transport solutions, under the guidance of experienced traffic modellers and project managers
• Collaborate with and across teams within Cardno’s Asia Pacific South division to satisfy project requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

• Can-do attitude and proven ability to use initiative to solve problems
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering / Computer Science or related field
• Strong verbal communication and the ability to write effectively
• The ability to research ideas, analyse options and make recommendations
• Ability to plan and manage time appropriately to complete designated tasks
• A keen interest in traffic and transport engineering and a desire to learn and improve professionally
• Some experience in traffic engineering or modelling (desirable)
• Some experience with Visual Basic or Python (desirable)
• Knowledge of traffic modelling software, in particular Aimsun or VISSIM (desirable)
• Knowledge of standards and guidelines to contribute to practical transport solutions (desirable)
