Clean TeQ is establishing its Technical Development & Technology function that will drive the development of new adoptable and adaptable technology to create new opportunities for Clean TeQ businesses and lead the Technical Committee and risk management. This function will also support and add value to the Sunrise nickel, cobalt and scandium project.

What's the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Chief Technical Development Officer, you will act as Clean TeQ’s subject authority for all matters related to process chemistry to create business opportunities for Clean TeQ and add value to the Sunrise Project. You will be responsible for conceiving and conducting chemistry and hydrometallurgical R&D studies. and. For Sunrise in particular, a key objective of this role will be to develop fundamental chemistry understanding and models to maximise Sunrise performance to respond to commissioning, ramp-up and operational challenges and opportunities and ensure the capture of the maximum value from this unique orebody. This role is a full-time permanent position, based in Melbourne CBD, VIC.

This includes:

  • Provide process chemistry leadership in the development of new technologies and products which contribute to long term technology and business vision for Clean TeQ.
  • Conceive and lead R&D programs / chemistry and hydrometallurgical R&D studies to create competitive advantage for Clean TeQ.
  • Provide technical expertise to meet internal and external customer needs and requirements in the following chemistry/hydrometallurgy discipline areas: Solution speciation; Reaction; Chemistry; Solvent extraction; Chemical and metallurgical model inputs (fundamentally-based – not empirical) - algorithms, reactions; Sunrise chemical processes - slurry heating, high pressure acid leach, neutralisation, continuous resin-in-pulp IX adsorption & desorption, solvent extraction, crystallisation, tailings, water treatment, etc

Analytical chemistry

  • Use a variety of methods and modelling software to monitor reaction processes and determine how changes in the process affects the operation.
  • Improve existing processes to reduce costs and increase reliability and growth of production, purity of products and safety of operations.
  • Write and review high quality proposals, reports and documentation conveying the approaches and results and conclusions clearly and accurately.
  • Keep abreast of leading edge technology and integrate into the development process.
  • Promote and contribute to a cohesive team environment and effectively communicate with all levels of the organisation.

 

What about you?

  • Postgraduate degree qualifications in chemistry or hydrometallurgy with a preference for Physical or Inorganic Chemistry.
  • Deep and broad process chemistry expertise in the following areas: Thermodynamic modelling; Solution speciation (preferably with PHREEQC or OLI); Modelling experience; Coordination chemistry;  Hydrometallurgy; Analytical chemistry; Kinetics and kinetic modelling; Crystallisation; Complex hydrometallurgical R&D, operations, etc – especially pressure acid leach; Scaling chemistry (formation and mitigation).
  • Proven Laboratory and industrial experimental experience.
  • Confirmed R&D expertise.
  • Relevant R&D networks – Australian and international.
