FABRICATION SUPERVISOR – REINFORCING STEEL
Currumbin, Gold Coast

About the role:
Neumann Steel operate a prefabrication facility for the manufacture and supply of steel reinforcing pile and column cages.  The facility based in Currumbin includes a fully enclosed workshop equipped with two overhead cranes, two cage making machines and a manual cage fabrication and assembly area.
 
We are currently seeking an experienced and trade qualified supervisor who will plan, organise and direct cage fabrication work on a range of projects to maximise budget performance and customer satisfaction whilst minimising contract risk. This position will report directly to the Operations Manager.
 
Key responsibilities:

• Organise staff and material resources to maximise efficiency and profitability
• Maintain our strong focus on all aspects of occupational health and safety
• Develop and implement cost effective fabrication methods and develop Welding Procedure Documentation as required
• Train, coach and assess welders on welding technique, weld quality and adherence to weld procedures
• Ensure material supply and cost is optimized and maintain daily records and documentation to ensure traceability
• Maintain all necessary quality control processes, including organizing and recording non-destructive testing and external inspections to meet client standards (such as QLD Main Roads and NSW RMS)
• Liaising effectively with customers at all stages in projects

The ideal candidate:

• Trade qualifications in the metal fabrication industry
• A minimum of ten years’ relevant industry experience, (previous reinforcing cage fabrication experience will be highly regarded)
• Good written and oral communication skills together with sound computer literacy are essential
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Australian Standards applicable to the reinforcing steel fabrication
• Experienced working to a QA system and hold Welding Supervisor certification (AS 2214)
• Estimating and costing ability to a professional standard
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a good communicator
