Teekay Shipping Australia (Teekay) are contracted to provide crew management, operational support and technical management services for a variety of Australian based maritime projects.

To support this, Teekay is looking to recruit a Technical Services Manager to support ongoing operational and engineering related service requirements. This role will support the Program Manager, Government Fleet in the management and execution of engineering and technical management services across Teekay’s Government Services portfolio.

The successful applicant will be responsible for;

• Providing technical input into operational decision-making including management, process, design, contracts and procurement.
• Develop, manage and undertake complex engineering change proposals in support of project requirements. Prepare all required technical reports, investigations, drawings & calculations in support of proposed engineering changes.
• Act as a delegated engineering authority below a prescribed level of risk, in accordance with Teekay procedures.
• Monitor and manage risks & opportunities ensuring that technical solutions, configuration management and operational improvements are developed and enforced within maintenance and engineering documentation (drawings, work instructions, flowcharts, procedures, capability descriptions)
• Development of operational concept documents, function and performance specifications and test & evaluation plans & procedures.
• Guide and mentor engineers and operational staff in their work and actively support their professional development.
• Record and maintain accurate contractual and commercial documentation to ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract provisions.
• Prepare briefing material and present briefings to provide management, customers and vendors recommendations/suggestions that address project and technical issues.
• Ensure practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard of HSEQ & QA.

We are looking for someone with;

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Aerospace or Naval Architecture.)
• Understanding of engineering and design implications in ship design, construction and operations within a commercial or defence environment.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships between team members and clients
• Ability to coordinate and manage diverse technical experts on issues outside own area of experience and expertise

In addition, the following would be advantageous; 

• Professional Chartered Status (Engineering)
• Detailed knowledge of engineering, systems and/or process design theory
• Skills and knowledge on critical manufacturing processes in terms of methods and quality (airworthiness/seaworthiness) within a defence environment.
• Knowledge in continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, 5S etc)
• Experience in technical documentation and processes IAW Quality Standards AS/NZS9001, AS/NZS9100, and AS/NZS14001 framework.
• 10+ years’ experience working within marine, heavy industry, or a defence environment.
• Operational experience (production/maintenance/engineering) ideally within large-scale project or operation.

Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and have a current NV1 Security Clearance or be eligible/willing to obtain this.

Domestic or overseas travel from time to time may be required from time to time to support project activities.
