THE OPPORTUNITY

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Capital Projects team and gain invaluable experience in designing world class innovative solutions.

At Ampcontrol, you’ll work on projects that change the way the industry operates, where making a big difference is part of the everyday. You’ll be part of a team that is creating innovative solutions that have never been seen or done before.

You will have hands-on exposure to diverse multi-disciplinary projects and face design engineering challenges within a range of sectors including mining, power, tunnelling, heavy industrial and renewables. You will be a valuable part of the mechanical engineering team for projects including mining electrical equipment, flameproof/non-flameproof substations, underground switchgear and modular/mobile substations - providing engineered solutions from the standard to the complex.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Your core focus will be developing your mechanical engineering skillset by ensuring mechanical design compliance to customer specification, contracts, standards and Ampcontrol design requirements. This will also involve ensuring the maintenance of design consistency and completion of design packages in line with project deadlines. You will also provide production support through design improvements and provision of supporting documentation.

You will have exposure in creating 2D and 3D designs, as well as understanding production, supply chain and certification constraints. You will develop, document and provide practical solutions that improve the ease of manufacture of products involving metal, plastic, optical, electrical and electronic components.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Your desire to gets hands on in a manufacturing environment will be complemented by the following:

  • A ‘safety first’ mindset;
  • Degree (or higher) level qualification in mechanical engineering and/or currently studying;
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor; or any 3D software;
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Demonstrated experience in design and calculations;
  • Creative problem-solving skills and excellent customer service orientation;
  • Self-accountability and commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
