Project Engineer - Utilities

The Project

This civil project is the Devils Pulpit to Richmond River section of the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade in northern New South Wales. The project will deliver a 34km Pacific Highway upgrade linking the Maclean to Devils Pulpit section to the south and the Richmond River to Ballina Bypass section in the north and forms part of the $4.36 billion Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade – Australia’s largest regional infrastructure project.

Work includes upgrading the Pacific Highway to two lanes in each direction, building seven new bridges, and associated road works consisting of ground treatments, earthworks and road surfacing.

Your opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced Project Engineer (Utilities) to join the team at Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade project.  The Project Engineer (Utilities) will co-ordinate and work with all utility providers for the project

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Act as the authorised contact person for communications between CPB Contractors and utility and service provider on interface management matters;
  • Maintain current copies of Safety Management Plans and Work Method Statements;
  • Ensure safety control measures are established and maintained in compliance with the Safety Management and Utilities Management Plans and relevant utility client specifications and standards;
  • Carry out inspections and audits on utilities works;
  • Ensure site personnel including contractors have appropriate training and qualifications;
  • Provide notification to owners of utilities of any shutdown works

Ideally you should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • Evidence of managing/co-ordinating compliant design and approval of utility diversions;
  • Experience in a utilities role in a RMS road construction project;
  • Strong understanding of safety management plans, process and work method statements;
  • Demonstrated experience in on site auditing processes;
  • Strong communication and planning skills;
  • Demonstrated safety behaviour
  • Experience on RMS projects will be highly regarded
