About the business and the role
Jamieson Australia Pty Ltd is one of Australia's leading suppliers of specialised bulk transport services and equipment and is located at Parafield Gardens, SA. We provide technical engineering services to Australia's heavy vehicle organisations that are associated with mining, quarrying, construction, material handling etc.
Jamieson Australia is currently looking for an experienced Design/Draftsperson to join our team. The rewarding role will see the new team member working with our already established engineering team and involve but is not limited to; producing 3D models, detailed drawings, design & development, creation of BOMs and basic engineering adminstration.
The ideal candidate will have proficient Solidworks knowledge and skills along with a minimum of 3 years drafting experience. To have experience within the transport industry or a similar field will be very advantageous but is not essential. The role will offer an immediate start and above the awards rate of pay to the precise calibre of candidate.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Produce 3D CAD Solidworks models.
- Produce technical drawings for manufacture using Solidworks and Draftsight.
- Produce all required information for distributing profiles, pressings, machined items etc. to the supplier. This includes collating DXFs, PDFs & BOMs.
- Produce proposal drawings to client specifications.
- Liaise with workshop personnel, giving them guidance and assistance.
- The creation of product manuals for Jamieson clients.
- Design and development of Jamieson product.
Skills and experience
- Advanced Solidworks skills.
- AutoCAD 2D / Draftsight
- Microsoft suite e.g. Word, & Excel
- Qualifications in mechanical engineering/design drafting or equivalent.
- 5+ years' experience in a similar drafting/design role.
- A strong technical background within a manufacturing environment.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to learn, can problem solve and have a high attention to detail.
- Sound Knowledge of relevant technical drawing standard AS1100.
- Experience in the transport industry will be advantageous.
- Experience using Solidworks PDM management will be advantageous.
- Hydraulic & pneumatic experience will be advantageous.
