The time to market and introduction into service for new Satellite Systems can often be a significant factor in determining success for SATCOM providers and operators aiming to break into an already congested telecommunications market. The ability to provide subject matter expertise across the broad range of skillsets required to ensure the successful introduction of SATCOM systems can significantly de-risk and ultimately prevent cost and schedule blowouts that is often associated with such large complex programs.

Nova Systems SATCOM comprises a satellite communications team with high quality, experienced people that cover multiple disciplines encompassing project specification, requirements definition, engineering, integration, installation, test and evaluation, operations and ILS. Our experts, based on personnel with a long history of delivering successful commercial and Defence projects are able to provide expert advice and guide clients through all aspects of SATCOM project establishment, delivery and support.

About the opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the engineering, installation and test program for a series of SATCOM Ground Stations and associated infrastructure projects for the Department of Defence. This project is delivering a new UHF SATCOM capability to the ADF.

What will you be involved in:

• Management and conduct of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs);
• Running of the site installation program;
• Management of the Test Program;
• Oversight of Acceptance Test and Evaluation (AT&E) and Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) activities;
• Prime contractor management and liaison;
• Co-ordination of System Safety documentation;
• Management of Project Engineering plans.

What we would like from you:

• Relevant Engineering Degree (if from overseas recognised by Engineers Australia);
• Australia Citizenship (due to AGSVA Clearance requirements);
• Current or recently suspended Baseline AGSVA Clearance (NV-1 highly regarded);
• At least 5 years' experience in the ADF Acquisition environment;
• Minimum of 10 years' professional experience in engineering or project management roles with a minimum of 5 years of systems engineering.

Desirable:

• Contract management (ASDEFCON) experience;
• Experience with Design Development of SATCOM and/or ICT Systems;
• Experience in the Test and Evaluation of Defence capability;
• Ex-service background or experience in an engineering stream within the Department of Defence;
• Professional qualifications and experience to achieve at least Technical Authority Level 4 under the Technical Regulatory Framework for Land Materiel.
