As the High Voltage Electrical Engineer you will be primarily responsible for providing the strategy and planning associated with asset compliance, maintenance, renewal and disposal of high voltage electrical assets. The role will be responsible for ensuring Hunter Water fulfils its obligations as the responsible person for High Voltage assets. 
 
Key responsibilities of this role will include delivering subject matter expertise and technical leadership as the responsible High Voltage Engineer, supporting  a continuous improvement culture, delivering exceptional internal and external customer service and maintaining business unit compliance.
 
This position offers a base salary of between $107,076 - $118,00 plus 9.5% superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience).
 
To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
 

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)  
• Current Construction Induction Card (White Card)  
• Demonstrated experience with the operation and maintenance of electrical assets including HV
• A thorough understanding of statutory HV asset requirements
• Knowledge of current HV legislation and standards associated with electrical assets including:
• AS2067 Substations and high voltage installations exceeding 1kV a.c.
  
• Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2004 (NSW)
  
• Electricity (Consumer Safety) Regulation 2006 (NSW)
  
• NSW Service and Installation Rules
  
• AS7000 - Overhead Line Design
  
• AS3000 - Electrical Installations
  

 

The following skills and experience are not essential but will be highly regarded:

 

• Current authorisation to issue and receive High Voltage Access Permits
• Low Voltage Rescue and CPR
• Confined Space
• Work Safely at Heights
• Certificate IV Leadership and Management
• Proven ability to write technical papers
• Understanding of the technical aspects, failure modes, repair methods and failure prevention techniques for water industry equipment - electrical
• Experience using Ellipse or other works management systems
• An understanding of NS 195 - Ausgrid
