About Our Company

Bearcat is Australia’s largest provider of specialised wheels and tyres to the Material Handling, Construction, Access Equipment, Underground Mining, Ports & Docks and associated industries.  We operate from seven (7) locations around Australia with the wheel division based in Sydney.

Role Description

This position (Wheel Division Manager) facilitates the production of steel wheels from our western Sydney factory.  Working with the local production team, sales teams & our overseas affiliated companies (Germany, USA, Sri Lanka, Turkey & China) you will build replacement wheels to suit the above mentioned market segments.  The incumbent manager/engineer is moving towards retirement and will provide an extended hand-over to the incoming candidate.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director, the key responsibilities are:

  • Effective leadership to the production team
  • Improving existing standard operating procedures and developing new processes where required
  • Ensure finished product meets required quality standard and is maintained within set targets.
  • Multitasking and an ability to prioritise production schedules to ensure that client / branch requirements are met.

 

Core Competencies

  • Tradesman (or above) qualifications in welding (pressure vessels) and machining (CNC) will be pre-requisites
  • Previously worked and managed a workshop environment (Heavy Fabrication)
  • Strong and proven continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience
  • An adept problem solver with excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Excellent leadership skills with good oral, written and presentation skills to ensure effective communication across all levels of the business
