Our client is a boutique client side project and construction management consultancy who provide independent and professional services for property and infrastructure projects. They are looking for an enthusiastic Commercial / Contracts Manager to join their innovative and client focussed team to work on a large & prestigious infrastructure project.

Ideally experience in Light Rail or Utilities / Roads projects (or similar or civil type projects) and the candidate can come from the client or head contractor side. Strong stakeholder engagement experience is also a must.

Offering and end to end consulting, PM and advisory service to their clients, they have a diverse project portfolio spanning commercial buildings, industrial, retail, education, aged care, hotels and infrastructure.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Negotiate and review contract tenders from consultants and contractors including preparation of tender comparison for review
  • Prepare, check and review contract scopes, lettings and procurement schedules
  • Monitor contractors/consultants to ensure they are adhering to commitments and responsibilities
  • Preparation of accurate payment schedules
  • Understand and manage contractor/consultant contractual risk
  • Process progress claims, delay claims and external variations according to contractual obligations
  • Preparation of project budgets for review and provide accurate rolling final account forecasts
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of project completion and inspection test plans
  • Experience of commercial management of infrastructure/civil projects from scope development to hand over
  • Appointment of contractors through competitive tendering

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Commercial/Cost Management, Quantity Surveying (or similar)
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years experience within the construction industry
  • Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets
  • Proven understanding of engineering concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and drive
