Madden & Associates Pty Ltd is a Chartered Quantity Surveying and Project Management company based in Maitland NSW. The company specialises in work in Commercial Hospitality, Aged Care and Residential sectors, with budgets ranging from $150k to $60 million.

 

Due to our current and future work load, an opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager to join our office based team.

About the role

As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager, your role will be diverse and will include, but not be limited to, the following: -

  • Quantity Surveying role includes: -
    • Producing Cost Plans at design, tender and construction level details;
    • Producing Bills of Quantities;
    • Completion of Section 94(a) applications;
    • Review of variations during construction
  • Client based Project Management role includes: -
    • Design team involvement
    • Project cost control
    • Management and award of the tender process
    • Management and award of main building contracts
    • Review and management RFI's, variations and communication with the Main Building Contractor during construction
    • Attendance at site meetings and taking of minutes as required

 

Experience in measurement, quantity surveying and estimating is highly preferable, with the role offering support and learning to acquire additional skills in client project management to the right applicant.

Benefits and perks

This role requires applicants to hold and maintain a valid driver's licence and own/have full time access to a motor vehicle. Travel allowance is provided based on work related usage.
 

The ability to grow in this role is exponential and will depend on the ability, competency and dedication of the applicant. Salary will be commensurate upon experience.

This is a full time, 40-hour per week position with general office hours from 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Skills and experience

To be considered for the role as an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager you will be required to have:

  • Either AIQS, RICS, CIOB or AIB corporate membership.
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good organisation skills with an attention to detail
  • Patience and Initiative
  • Excellent Work Ethic.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn and adapt to new procedures
  • Good knowledge of building techniques
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project essential
  • Experience with Buildsoft and/or Cubit estimating software preferable
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years post grad industry experience

Quantity Surveying or Estimating background preferred
