Downer has just secured a new contract at our Newport Facility which has increased the volume of work through the site. We are seeking an Operations Project Manager to be accountable for the management of a third party contract with Bombardier Transportation to service and overhaul the classic fleet of rolling stock in Newport. You will be reporting to and working closely alongside the Operations Manager.
This key role is the primary interface between the two companies and requires an individual with strong commercial acumen coupled with exceptional communication skills.The role is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong relationship with Bombardier Transportation and ensuring successful delivery of the contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent Downer Rail towards the external entities encountered during projects, coordinate and manage the Production Planners, specifically on the Bombardier major works plan
- Conduct project reviews across the Newport operations.
- Coordinate project execution, track and report on progress to site management teams, stakeholders and senior management.
- Ensure completion of project performance goals to meet business objectives
- Work closely with the Finance and Commercial team for all contractual & cost aspects relating to project activity.
- Ensure overall Project Quality Programmes are maintained in line with Downer ail processes.
- Ensure Quality Plan is robust, maintained and implemented in full. Act effectively and quickly to address any identified non-conformances.
- Constantly monitor and if requested report the necessary key performances indicators (KPI).
- Ensure autonomous teams, lean maintenance and Kaizen methodologies are adopted and implemented throughout the “life” of the project.
You will have:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Maintenance processes
- Knowledge of project Management Methodologies
- Ability to define a Risk Management Plan
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering (electrical/mechanical)
- Experience within a large Maintenance / Manufacturing business.
- Experience in Project Management
