About the Role

The Retail Fitout Project Manager will form part of the project team and will assume general responsibilities for the fit-out of the retail tenancies.  The Retail Fitout Project Manager will also manage the agreements for lease for each tenancy, manage and coordinate the particulars of the lease including special provisions, oversee and direct the construction and manage the associated financial risk for the retail fit-out.

The Retail Fitout Project Manager will have management responsibility for all design, documentation, administration and compliance for the overall retail fit-out programme and will also pro-actively contribute to maintaining surrounding operations and corporate visual identity.

This role would suit a project management professional with over 5+ years’ experience in working in a commercial or retail construction role.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the tenancy leases;
• Ensure that any negotiated incentives and other agreed changes are included in the lease agreements and that these are translated to the fit-out;
• Manage all costs and provide cost control associated with the agreements for lease;
• Manage the temporary relocation and other temporary facilities;
• Confirm construction fit-out start and finish dates for each of the tenancies;
• Coordinate all permit application and lodgement with authorities having jurisdiction over the fit-out works;
• Design management and design coordination;
• Marketing and corporate visual identity management;
• Construction coordination and quality control - ensure that the tenants and the tenants’ fit-out contractor complies with their obligations under the agreement for lease; and
• Have a constant focus on the business’s customers and work to ensure that any inconvenience to the business’s customers is kept to an absolute minimum.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering commercial or retail construction projects;
• Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering multiple complex and staged retail tenancy Fitout projects;
• Ability to deliver results managing multiple concurrent work-faces;
• Ability to work independently;
• Excellent Health & Safety knowledge; and
• Solid time management and organisational skills together with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
