Are you an Environment Advisor with experience in utilities and looking for your next challenge?

Our Services business is a specialist engineering, construction and asset management contractor, connecting industries and communities with vital infrastructure. The company is responsible for creating, operating and maintaining public and private assets serving millions of people each day.

We are currently seeking to appoint an Environmental Advisor to join our Water business based in Parramatta. In this role, you will provide environmental leadership and support to our delivery teams across the design, construction and commissioning of Sydney Water assets.

Reporting to the Safety, Quality, Environmental and Construction Lead for a region, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the environmental management system, coaching and development of contractors on and ensuring all environmental plans and procedures are carried out to meet the requirements of all compliance requirements, policies and objectives.

As a part of our team your key responsibilities are:

  • Review Environmental Planning Approval documentation to assess the impact of any project scope/methodology changes
  • Complete project risk assessments
  • Review and endorse delivery contractors’ Environmental Work Method Statements (EWMS) & Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) to deliver projects in accordance with environmental planning approval
  • Conduct on-site compliance inspections to monitor the performance of Contractors and support continuous improvement and world class performance
  • Conduct KPI audits on Contractors; assess compliance with corporate environmental systems and sample CEMPs
  • Critically analyse, review and interpret monthly trends and data to contribute to performance reporting
  • Facilitate and contribute to training programs
  • Participate in project risk workshops to identify potential environmental constraints to proposed project designs and methodologies
  • Contribute to Project Execution reviews; ensure environmental lessons are learnt, captured and shared amongst relevant stakeholders

To be successful in this role you will be experienced in on-site environmental management with a strong technical background, an understanding of the NSW regulatory framework and be familiar with current and emerging environmental issues. As a minimum you will have a tertiary qualification in environmental science or engineering etc, and will be qualified and experienced as Lead Auditor in Environmental Management Systems. You will have excellent written communication skills, proficient computer skills, hold a white card (or general construction induction card) and a current drivers licence.

You will be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. You will be provided with a strong level of support by a business with strong management systems but we are seeking an individual who can think on their feet and who enjoys building strong and effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders both internal and external.
