About this Position!

A rare opportunity has opened up for an additional Cadet Designer to join the team! Reporting through to the General Manager the primary objective here is to design pre-assembled timber frame and trusses for MCM’s local customer base.

Picture busy days where you will be using software packages specifically developed to enable the design and estimation of frame and truss systems. Full training on this PRYDA software will be provided to the successful candidate. To be successful, you will also need to have an eye for detail, and self-confidence in your spatial awareness and maths ability.

Starting out, your Top 4 challenges will be to;

• Learn to use the engineering design [PRYDA] software
• Comprehend MCM procedures, our internal systems and processes
• Form great working relationships with the rest of the team at MCM and their customers
• Develop a thorough product knowledge of our timber Frames and Trusses!

Top tasks [the things you’ll do most often on the job!]:

• design timber frames initially, then later design trusses with further training
• clarifying design information with customers in office (drafting dept.) via phone and email
• clarifying design information with customers on site (supervisors and trades) via phone and email
• clarifying design information with manufacturing teams within MCM face to face
• follow procedural detail check lists
• other admin as needed

• Good verbal communication skills – we’re in search of a positive and open communicator;
• Reasonably fast, but definitely accurate data entry skills;
• Confident technology skills – you’ll know your way around the common software packages and learn new software easily;
• An ability to ‘think on your feet’, multitask and problem solve, and;
• Sound numeracy and literacy skills.
• 3 + years work experience of any kind.
• A solid work history [you’ve shown a good long term commitment one or more jobs in the past]
• Work is important to you – it helps you to achieve your goals!
• Have a keen eye for detail;
• You’ll have the MCM Frame and Truss energies [Energy, Respect, Teamwork, Collaboration, Dependability!]

This position would be ideal for people who live in St Mary’s, Werrington, Claremont Meadows, Ropes Crossing, St Clair, Colyton, Mt Druitt, Jordan Springs, Kingswood and Penrith areas!
