Sheffield Resources is developing the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project, a large-scale mineral sands mining project with low environmental impacts and long term community benefits. The project is located 140km by road between Broome and Derby in Western Australia and has a current mine life in excess of 40 years.  The two-year construction period of the project is planned to commence in 2018.

About the Position

This is a fantastic newly created position for a seasoned contracts manager to get in with a Greenfields mining venture at the grass roots level.

Reporting to the Owner Works Manager, The Contracts and Supply Superintendent will be accountable for the day-to-day tendering, evaluation, management and administration of contracts for a segment of the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Establish and champion procurement and supply chain systems within the company.
  • Lead, prepare and negotiate contract packages for scopes of work, prequalification, administration of tendering process, selection of contractors, implementation of contracts and ongoing contract management.
  • Be the primary point of contact while providing contract advice and support to the Owners team, suppliers and contractors.
  • Identify and resolve any issues related to quality, cost and delivery of contracts.

This position will manage approximately 4-8 contracts concurrently, up to $15M in value.

About You

We are seeking a capable professional who has a proven track record of effectively managing all stages of the contracting and supply process.

The role will suit an individual who is looking to have a lasting career with a mining company and who will appreciate the coastal Kimberley lifestyle.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree or qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Previous demonstrated experience managing construction and mining related contracts, scopes of work, tendering, evaluation, contracts administration and monitoring, procurement, variations and document control.
  • Direct accountability experience with a portfolio of contracts up to $15M in size.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems. Previous user of SAP – Business by Design is ideal but not essential.
  • Ability to work effectively, sensitively, inclusively and respectfully with our diverse workforce and community stakeholders.
  • Excellent time‐management, attention to detail and problem‐solving skills.
  • A safety-first approach and continuous improvement mindset.
  • A current drivers license.

Location

This position will ideally be located in Broome or Derby. Perth based candidates who would consider moving to the Broome or Derby area within a reasonable time frame are also encouraged to apply.
