Detail information about job Head of Finance. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Brand new position with a rapidly expanding technology company
  • Be part of an award winning team
  • Full time role based in Coburg North

We are CT, and we are a fast-growing technology company with a start-up like mentality with energy and hunger for growth. We exist to empower every person from the classroom to the boardroom. We do this by creating an environment where our people love their work and deliver over and above our customer’s expectations.

Our brand-new values exemplify our vision for the future:

  • We ask questions, take risks and build on each other’s ideas, because we are better together.
  • We are passionate about helping our customers achieve more, and that means we really listen and learn from them.
  • We check our egos at the door, we are an open company
  • We deliver our very best in all we do, we hold ourselves accountable for results.
  • We create an environment where employees can think big, take risks, have fun, and do good.

We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial person with a strong background in Finance to join us and help us achieve our quest for constant growth and improvement.

Aside from being responsible for directing and managing the company's financial resources, the successful person will have an owner like mentality with a focus on helping us improve our operating efficiencies, drive growth and bring innovative ideas to help us achieve our goals.

As a company that competes with several ASX listed companies, many of whom have deeper pockets than us, the perfect person will help question the numerous ideas our team has from a financial perspective and help us look for ways of funding it, such as through grants or leveraging the company's existing resources.

We are not your traditional company - in that we are not happy with the status quo and we challenge everything we do. We look for ways to make things better and more efficient.

Our executive team needs the support of a business minded person to help push our teams to overachieve as well as reign in spending where it doesn’t make sense.

The position will be supporting our Managing Director that is heavily focused on the growth of the business and the delivery of our promise/commitment to customers and so will rely on you to act like an owner!

The ability for the successful candidate to work independently is critical as decisions within this position need to be made on an almost daily basis. Confidence is a must! Some of these decisions surround pricing, expenditure, growth of teams, accommodation (our new offices), capacity of our infrastructure and which ideas we should and should not pursue.

Some of the elements you will be responsible for includes, but isn’t limited to:

    • Direct investment of company funds to maximise returns.
    • Support the Managing Director by ensuring that the company's financial position is strong and optimised, and to assist the business to continue to grow at the fast pace we have been for the past several years.
    • Scrutinise expenditure across the business to ensure that financial resources are being directed to activities which will assist in the growth of our company.
    • Engage and maintain strong relationships with financial partners such as banks to ensure that our financial resources are suitably leveraged and our total cost of funds is reduced.
    • Manage our financial capabilities by strengthening our balance sheet and other key metrics used by lenders to assess funding capabilities.
    • Maintain strong cash flow within the organisation by seeking to reduce our time to collect on receivables whilst maximising our accounts payable terms.
    • Review and authorise any expenditure  related to business operations including re-occurring contracts with suppliers with a strong focus on improving our return on investment.
    • Collaborate with our external Accountants and Auditors to minimise our tax obligations whilst remaining compliant with the relevant laws.
    • Assess plans proposed by the various members of the executive leadership team to determine the expected Return on Investment and investigate ways to improve this over time.
    • Direct, manage and mentor a small team of finance resources to ensure that they are participating in the constant improvement of our financial position.
    • Collaborate with our business intelligence team to ensure that important metrics and key information required is visible to the relevant managers and teams with an aim at improving these over time.
    • Assess funding and government grants to determine if any are suitable to our business and direct our capability to respond to these as required.
    • Ensure our reporting and compliance requirements are met.
    • Ensure appropriate financial controls and processes are in place.
    • Assess and advise managers throughout the business on the efficiency of their teams and provide guidance on how to improve these efficiency metrics.
    • Prepare reports for the wider executive team with the support of the Business Intelligence team to provide information to our managers working to grow the business.

We have several large projects in our pipeline such as the construction of our exciting new headquarters and the expansion into new product offerings. As part of your role, we will also require you to oversee our financial commitment to these projects and investigate methods to improve our return on investment.

    You will have:

    • Tertiary qualifications ideally in accounting or commerce.
    • Strong numeracy skills and a sound understanding of accounting practices.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve problems.
    • Good understanding and working knowledge of financial systems and databases.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

      CT benefits:

    • Subsidised gym membership
    • Competitive salary
    • Parking/Close to public transport
    • Offsite quarterly functions.

We are a company undergoing an exciting new vision and strategy for growth.

Please submit your application outlining your experience relevant to the above criteria.

We look forward to working with you!
