Reporting to the Head of Finance and Business Services, the Financial Accountant is primarily responsible for the accuracy of ESV's general ledger ensuring all ESV's statutory obligations are met, including BAS and FBT, along with providing leadership to the Accounts Controller.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading the development, performance of, and maintenance of balance sheets reconciliation to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data contained in the financial reports.

Partnering with ESV operational divisions to provide effective advice and support to leaders in order to deliver on all financial activities.

Leading asset accounting, capital expenditure and WIP maintenance through the preparation and maintenance of the ESV Fixed Asset register.

Analysing and managing ESV's cash flow position and provide commentary. Analysing the monthly financial results of relevant client groups.

Contributing to the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to internal and external stakeholders.

Leading the month end journal process and reporting, including balance sheet, profit and loss and cash flow statements.

Managing all ESV's statutory obligations are met, including BAS and FBT.

Developing and maintaining effective partnering relationships with all internal stakeholders to assist in identifying and responding to trends and emerging business issues and needs.
To be considered for this role you will:
To be successful in this position you will have sound experience in a similar role, demonstrating sound business planning, financial reporting and public sector financial reporting. You will also have exceptional excel skills including financial modelling, to analyse financial results and perform scenario analysis.
Important for this position are strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency with Accounting or ERP systems including Fixed Assets, as well as a tertiary qualification in Accounting, or equivalent and accreditation with a professional accounting body e.g. CPA or CA are required.
As this position provides support to client groups at ESV's Southbank and Glen Waverley Office, you will need to work from both locations.
