BTLawyers is looking for a management accountant superstar or somebody looking to make their first move to a new Financial Controller position, who is passionate about taking their career to the next level.

BTLawyers is a modern and innovative legal practice that provides a range of legal services in insurance litigation, business and workplace disputes, commercial, family and personal law.  Priding ourselves on the continuous improvement of the quality of our service, the firms results, systems and work environment, the firm is rapidly expanding.  We are now looking for an up-and-coming Financial Controller to take charge managing the firms finance and accounting operations.

About the role:

As a Financial Controller you will be engaging but not limited to the following tasks:

This role will see you:

• Working alongside our CEO, business owners and senior leaders;
• Month-end and year-end reporting;
• Producing statutory accounts and other statutory reporting including BAS, FBT and GST;
• Quarterly and annual budgets and forecasts;
• Provide financial and strategic analysis reports;
• Offer insight into future business direction and strategic focus;
• Complete key balance sheet reconciliations;
• Maintain the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reports;
• Custodian of the internal financial processes and controls;
• Manage day-to-day payment of invoices and reimbursement from clients, via general and trust accounts;
• Payment and reconciliation of firm expenses and bank accounts;
• Managing and executing the payroll process;
• Coordinate the efforts of external auditors and tax accountants;
• Confidently work with changing technology in a paperless environment.

What you’ll need:

To support our fast-growing team and excel in the role, you will need the following:

• CA/CPA qualified
• Experience in a professional services firm;
• High level financial reporting and analysis;

• Knowledge of legislative requirements;

• Excellent attention to detail;
• Ability to quickly adapt to and learn technology, new systems and processes;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Adobe;
• Strong time management, organisational and problem-solving skills;
• Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a friendly team environment;
• Knowledge of QLS Trust Accounting requirements is a bonus.
