The Role
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in Australian tax and accounting in public practice, have tertiary or near tertiary qualifications with at least two years' experience in a similar role. You will have experience in assisting with the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, SMSF, partnerships and sole traders under the supervision of a manager or senior accountant. You will have great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills along with the ability to build relationships. You will have an analytical mindset and be excited to take on a challenge and build your experience by working across a variety of engagements. Working with the tax team and with advisers in financial planning, property and finance you will also be required to:
- Interview salary clients and prepare salary tax returns, rental statements, calculate capital gains, investment income, etc
- Monitor tax workflow and milestones on a daily basis to ensure job turnaround times are met and clients are kept informed as to the progress of their work.
- Assist with the preparation of BAS for clients, review PAYGI statements, request tax payment plans and calculate estimated future tax obligations and prepare estimated tax payment schedules.
- Assist in the provision of tax and accounting advice to a portfolio of medical and allied health clients, their enterprises and family groups primarily based on the Sunshine Coast.
- Assist in the preparation of client financial statements and business/ investment tax returns.
- Assist with the management of tax lodgements and due dates.
- Assist in the management of outsourced client work under the guidance of a senior accountant to ensure jobs are completed based on agreed milestones.
- Attend client presentations and meetings as required.
