Summary

The Payroll Manager Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) has overall responsibility for ensuring that both McDonald’s corporate staff and employees of McDonald’s owned restaurants (McOpCo) across Australia and New Zealand are paid accurately and in compliance with legislation and relevant Modern Awards and Agreements.

 

The Payroll Manager ANZ manages the Payroll Department to:

  • Set goals and provide direction to the team in achieving these goals
  • Ensure reporting and payments to employees are performed accurately and timely
  • Support the growth and development of the team
  • Ensure both McDonald’s global and local as well as legislative reporting requirements are completed accurately and timely

Additionally this role will focus on overseeing the Oracle HRMS payroll system and work with the Payroll Systems Manager to ensure correct calculations are maintained within the system, and smooth flow of data between the various McDonald’s systems that interconnect with Oracle.

 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks of this Role

Payroll

  • Responsible for the Corporate Salary Sheet Process including preparation of total rewards statements
  • Calculate annual bonus for Corporate Staff
  • Calculate monthly charges to McDonald’s Global for global employees paid by McDonalds Australia payroll
  • Manage the payment of expats and hypothetical tax calculation
  • Organise and prepare Employee Share Statements annually
  • Partner with Payroll Systems Manager to ensure Oracle HRMS System reflects changes to relevant Modern Awards and Agreements
  • Work with Payroll Systems Manager to ensure Oracle correctly reflects legislative requirements
  • Review and approve payroll payments including but not limited to group tax and payroll tax
  • Maintain McDonalds Payroll Manual including but not limited to SOPs (standard operating procedures), key dates and timelines, responsibilities listings and reporting inventories.
  • Ensure the call centre is effectively managed and queries are handled in a professional and timely manner

Reporting

  • Review monthly G&A reports prepared by the Payroll team, and communicate accordingly with Department Heads
  • Ensure all reports are prepared accurately and distributed in a timely manner including
    • Reports related to McOpCo restaurant labour costs
    • Headcount reports for both McOpCo restaurants and Corporate Departments
  • Perform global reporting as required including address adhoc report requests by McDonald’s Global
  • Support People & Culture reporting including addressing adhoc report requests by the People & Culture Department
  • Preparation and review of Australia and New Zealand balance sheet reconciliations for payroll accounts and ensure accuracy
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Corporate budgeting processes for company-wide Payroll costs
  • Partner with People & Culture to salary calibrate for Corporate Staff
  • Ensure SOX regulatory compliance
  • Partner with the Payroll Operations Manager to set goals and targets for the Department and then work with team members to set individual goals and targets
  • Coach and develop direct report/s in all areas of payroll expertise including upskilling and training
  • Coach, develop and empower the team to build skills and capabilities and achieve individual goals
  • Perform Global Deloitte’s monthly reporting to provide remuneration information for employees who have spent time based overseas, and provide support to pay/retrieve Tax Equalisation amounts for individual employees as determined by Deloitte.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including but not limited to
    • Car Lease Provider (Leaseplan)
    • Oracle HRMS Provider (Presence of IT)
    • Internal and External auditors
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and be the key point of contact

Other Desirable Criteria

  • Able to interpret and apply Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation
  • Able to interpret awards and agreements
  • Demonstrates a thorough understand in payroll processing, functions, reporting and system analysis.
  • Exposure to Oracle HRMS System (eBusiness Suite preferred)
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ demonstrated experience running a Payroll function in a similar sized corporation

This is a full-time position based at our headoffice in Thornleigh
