The Role

At ING we place heavy emphasis on the value of our customers, our Customer Operations Department play a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction. We are seeking a Collections Officer Grade 2, to join our Collections team in Customer Operations. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts in arrears for both secured and unsecured lending.

 

The Collections Officer will provide support to next level collection officers providing exposure to recovery and legal action while also having a sound knowledge of NCCP and all legislative requirements pertaining to debt collection. In addition, the role also deals directly with clients and multiple internal / external stakeholders and suppliers to determine actions and most effective approach in order to resolve arrears on customer(s) accounts.

 
Responsibilities
  • Receive inbound and make outbound calls to customers, third parties and third party suppliers (Vendors)
  • Assess, review, recommend and undertake recovery action where appropriate ensuring the action is the best outcome for the Bank and customer
  • Provide information and support to clients experiencing financial difficulty (Hardship)
  • Maintain contact with borrowers and have comprehensive recordings of borrower?s current situation
  • Collect applicable fees and default interest charges
  • Manage portfolio of delinquent accounts in accordance with Department policy and procedure
  • Maintain approved DLA?s
  • Attend/respond to incoming email and phone requests
  • Update internal and external stakeholders with account status enquiries/requests
  • Attend Vendor meetings where required
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • HSC or equivalent
  • Intermediate MS Office
  • 3 years collections experience
  • 1-2 years customer service experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and legislation
  • Team player
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task
  • Ability to interact with suppliers and customers
