The Opportunity
A new opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join the Finance Department at our Campbellfield branch. Reporting to the Regional General Manager Southern Region, this important position will be responsible for the efficient operation and management of the administration, accounting and commercial activities within the Southern Region and ensure that the appropriate support is provided to all other departments. In addition, the Commercial Manager will make recommendations on all financial and commercial matters, prepare annual income and expenditure budgets, control expenditure, monitor income and promote business development.
 
The successful candidate will be a leader with the ability mentor staff; someone able to with the management team to promote working solutions to support the business at all levels
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Monitor branches & department financial results against budget; ensuring variations are addressed.
• Review all sales tenders and rental agreements for commercial viability and corporate requirements are met.
• Coordinate and prepare annual budgets for all departments and branches in the region.
• Work with the Regional Contract Manager, monitoring and reporting on maintenance contracts.
• Coordinate and attend all physical stock-takes in the region and ensure full accountability.
• Ensure that Fixed Asset Registers are up to date and the assets of the company are protected.
• Liaise with Corporate Service personnel to ensure accounting requirements are met.
• Prepare regional fortnightly profit & loss forecasts.
• Assist departments, and regional and national managers with any commercial issues in the region.
• Review any regional capital expenditure proposal before submission to Corporate Services.
• Conduct quarterly internal audits as well as SOX compliance audits.
• Ensure that the region complies with GST & FBT tax laws and procedures.

 
The knowledge, skills and abilities we're looking for

• University degree in Accountancy, Economics or Business Studies & ICAA or CPA Membership
• Ten years practical accounting & commercial experience.
• Excellent knowledge of financial and management accounting
• Knowledge of financial reporting and tax compliance, local laws and regulations.
• Advanced understanding of legal concepts inherent in contractual agreements
• Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of SAP AX & R&M Care and other Office programs.
• Exposure to taxation and audit requirements, understanding of State laws.
• Understanding of foreign exchange risk and exposures.
