Primary purpose of the role

The Chief Information Officer, as part of the Product and Digital team of Service NSW, develops organisationally aligned ICT strategies, and leads the strategic ICT function and related business activities. As a key member of the Product Senior Leadership Team, this role will provide guidance and support to the Chief Digital and Product Officers’ decision making, with particular oversight for ICT reform across the organisation and ensuring maximised returns from investments in order to improve operational effectiveness and the efficient, optimised delivery of products.  

 

Key Responsibilities include:

·       Manage and coordinate the implementation of ICT related functions to strengthen service delivery capabilities within Service NSW and ensure better outcomes and reduced operational costs.

·       Provide leadership to senior executives in Service NSW and collaborate with government agencies to plan and implement ICT strategies, initiatives and technology solutions.

·       Create and maintain highly professional, customer oriented, innovative and future-focused ICT capability within the organisation.

·       Engage and influence decision makers to align ICT investment with strategic objectives.

·       Develop and manage strong professional relationships and partnerships with agencies and external stakeholders, fostering and facilitating their optimal collaboration, participation and engagement.

 

Essential Requirements for the role:

This role demands strong product instincts, excellent communication skills, technical fluency, customer empathy, and humility.  The Chief Information Officer role will suit an individual who is curious, flexible and has a learning mindset as well as:

 

·       Tertiary qualifications in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline will be preferred

·       Proven leadership and management at a senior executive level within the ICT industry, leading ICT reform and implementing change management processes and in the development and implementation of information strategies

·       Exceptional understanding of applying public administration principles and implementing contemporary management practices, particularly as they relate to ICT, will be an advantage

·       Experience and passion for working in an Agile environment, Lean methodology, and User Centred Design will be preferred

·       Empathy and passion for our customer, the citizens of NSW


Your remuneration
SEB 1 - The remuneration range is from $225,059 to $247,002 Total Package.
