The Organisation

Our client is a residential housing construction and land development business located in Sydney, and with activities in several regions of NSW and the ACT. The company has built a reputation for delivering an honest, reliable, and personalised service and a proud culture of innovation, creativity, collaboration and customer focus.

Following the implementation of a new structure and growth strategy our client is seeking a General Manager Canberra with experience in the residential home building sector in a drive to grow the brand in the region.

This role will suit an ambitious, high calibre manager with a record of successful project delivery, team leadership skills and a strong client network.

 The Role 

  • Perform as an effective member of the Senior Management Team and Leadership Team:
  • Liaise and engage with other team members to ensure Homes meet targets in relation to site starts, margins and cost management
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the Regional Team to ensure they meet expectations and achieve deadlines of the Region meets budgeted margin.
  • Through a well-developed network, further develop the brand, demonstrating quality outcomes and ensuring a customer driven culture
  • Drive sustainable growth across in the region, through the leverage of their existing client base in addition to the promotion of opportunities into the sales team
  • Actively engage with both sub-contractor and suppliers to manage relationships and meet workload requirements
  • Ensure regional compliance with all company policies and the Workplace Health & Safety Act.

 Requirements

  • At least 10 years' experience in Residential Housing Development and Construction.
  • Proven experience in managing a high performing team, meeting targets and growth.
  • Management of the performance of Regional teams to ensure they meet expectations and achieve deadlines.
  • Proactive financial Management of a business unit with full P&L accountability.
  • Client liaison, ensuring a competent level of client communication via a regional team.
  • Ensuring all practises meet both company and code compliance.
  • Ensure organisation meets company standards and legislative requirements in relation to HS&E, company policy and procedure.
  • Experience in engaging with Sub-Contractors and Supplier Management.

Education and Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Building, Construction, Engineering, Land Management Business, Commerce or other related field will be an advantage.
