The NSW Telco Authority leads and drives operational telecommunications reform for the public sector.


The Authority supports NSW Government agencies that use radio communication as a critical operational requirement, including public safety and law enforcement agencies, emergency, essential and community services providers.


As the Director Planning and Projects, you will drive the organisational strategy, planning and risk management functions for the Authority and lead, direct and oversee the efficient and effective delivery of internal and whole of government programs and projects within time, cost and quality parameters.


Some of the key accountabilities for the role include:


  • Lead design, delivery, monitoring and reporting of programs that provide services to NSW agencies and citizens, outlined in the Operational Communications Strategy, and other relevant projects including Mobile Black Spots and regional connectivity.
  • Lead the effective implementation of Risk management, Business Continuity and Work Health and Safety frameworks and requirements including managing statutory and departmental alignment and reporting.
  • Ensure the Authority’s compliance with statutory and management reporting requirements, including strategic support for the Managing Director on the development, documentation and communication of the Authority’s strategic direction, corporate plan, annual report and statement of business intent by the senior leadership team.
  • Develop and oversee the effective and efficient implementation of project/program management frameworks.  This includes aligning activities to the objectives of the Authority and broader government through: the establishment, maintenance and implementation of project/program governance, standards, resource planning practices, processes and tools, roles and responsibilities, reporting and review frameworks.  These frameworks are also utilised and/or adapted for Major Program delivery.
  • Proactively identify, and intervene to resolve, complex issues and risks that may impede the effective delivery of projects and programs including acting as a point of escalation as well as providing timely, relevant, authoritative information and advice to the Managing Director and others as required, to facilitate informed decision making.
  • Lead effective prioritisation and categorisation of initiatives programs and projects, resource management, risk management, program governance and reporting in relation to program delivery as chair of the Portfolio Management Board to ensure the Authority delivers against its commitments and objectives.
