Position overview

The Department of Pacific Affairs (DPA) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to play a key role in the mobilisation and operation of the new Asia-Pacific Data for Development Initiative.

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region.

DPA is a vibrant research unit in the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs. The Department is the leading international centre for applied research into contemporary governance issues in the Pacific. In addition to its scholarly goals, DPA maintains a strong commitment to active engagement with policy communities in the region and Australia.

DPA is managing the Pacific component of the Asia-Pacific Data for Development (APD4D) Initiative. APD4D will work collaboratively to provide a number of core functions including establishing core data infrastructure as a regional public good, develop a range of new and innovative data platforms, products and applications for use at regional, country and local levels, and provide scholarship and research opportunities. It will expand data access to end users in formats that support policy, planning and evaluation processes. APD4D will play a collaborative, complementary and coordinating role. It will federate data from an array of stakeholders to create a body of data and enhance the evidence-base to support research and analysis in the Pacific.

The APD4D Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the Initiative achieves its aims and delivers high quality technical, program, and administrative outputs. The Project Manager will have a key role in supporting the development and implementation of required governance arrangements with a view to increasing the impact of APD4D activities.

The primary focus of this role is to develop, manage and monitor the APD4D work plan, coordinate engagement across the ANU, ensure partnerships with key stakeholders are managed appropriately, deliver high quality program, administrative and contract management, including monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the implementation of the APD4D.
